Terms of Service
These are the rules for using MadeThese. We kept them short and plain. Please read them — by using MadeThese, you agree to them.
Who runs MadeThese
MadeThese is run by Riley Adamson, a person — not a company. When these terms say “we” or “us,” they mean Riley.
You can write to us at [email address coming soon], or by mail at [mailing address coming soon].
Using MadeThese
- You must be at least 13 years old to make an account.
- If you’re under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s OK before you pay for anything.
- Some artists draw people from life, and that can include nudity. Those sites tell you before you look.
- Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. It’s part of these terms.
Your account
- You sign in with an account from another company (like Google) or with a link we email you.
- Keep your sign-in safe. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
- If you think someone else got into your account, tell us right away.
- One person per account. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
Your art is yours
You keep every right to everything you upload. We don’t own it. We never sell it. We never use it to train AI for anyone else.
To run MadeThese, you give us a limited permission (a “license”) to:
- store your files and keep them safe;
- make copies in other sizes, like small pictures for the gallery;
- show your work to the people you choose, the way you choose — clear, blurred, members only, or only you;
- show a preview when someone shares a link to a piece you made public;
- let our AI helper look at your work to describe it for you, and learn your habits — for you only.
That’s all. The license is free, it isn’t exclusive (share your work anywhere else you like), and it works anywhere in the world, because the internet does. It ends when you remove a piece or delete your account. A few copies can stay in backups for a short time, and people keep copies they downloaded with your permission.
By uploading, you promise that you made the work or have the right to share it. If it shows people, you promise they’re OK with how you share it.
If you let visitors download a piece, they get a copy. Downloading doesn’t give them your copyright.
More about this: Your art is yours.
What visitors post
Comments, reactions, tip notes and other things you post belong to you. You let us show them where you posted them. Artists can hide comments on their own pages.
Your name and picture show next to what you post in public. Tip amounts never do.
What’s not allowed
- Uploading work that isn’t yours, or that you don’t have the right to share.
- Sharing pictures of people in a way they didn’t agree to.
- Anything sexual involving anyone under 18. Ever. We remove it and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
- Threats, harassment, bullying or hate.
- Spam, scams and fake accounts.
- Breaking the law, or helping someone else break it.
- Breaking into accounts, the site or private pieces, or getting around an artist’s “who sees it” choices.
- Copying the site in bulk, or using art from MadeThese to train AI, without the artist’s written OK.
- Paying with a card that isn’t yours, or misusing refunds.
We may remove anything that breaks these rules. See something wrong? Use Report at the bottom of any piece.
Tips, the wallet and memberships
Payments go through Stripe. We never see your full card number. Prices are in US dollars. When a button says “(test),” no real money moves.
The wallet
- You add money to your wallet by card, $5, $10 or $25 at a time. We pay the card fees — you’re charged exactly what you add.
- A wallet can hold up to $100. The money doesn’t expire.
- Wallet money can only be used to tip on MadeThese. It isn’t a bank account, it earns no interest, and it can’t be moved to someone else.
- Want back money you haven’t tipped yet? Email us at [email address coming soon] (or reply to your Stripe receipt), and we’ll refund it to the card you paid with.
Tips
- A tip is $0.50 to $25. It moves from your wallet to the artist right away.
- Tips are final. Once you tip, we can’t undo it or refund it.
- Your note goes only to the artist. If you choose “Show my name,” your name (never the amount) appears on the piece.
Memberships
- A membership has a monthly price, shown before you pay.
- It renews automatically. Your card is charged when you join, then again every month on the same day, until you cancel.
- Cancel any time: open your account menu → Memberships → Manage or cancel. That opens Stripe’s page for your billing, where you can also change your card and see receipts.
- When you cancel, there are no more charges. You stay a member until the end of the month you paid for. We don’t refund part of a month.
- If a payment fails, Stripe tries your card again. You keep your access for 7 days while it does.
- If an artist changes their price, members who already joined keep paying the price they joined at.
Who gets the money
Right now, the only artist who can earn money on MadeThese is Riley, who also runs it. So tips and memberships go to him, in full — MadeThese takes no fee. Before other artists can earn here, we’ll add the rules for paying them, and update these terms.
If you ask your bank to reverse a payment, we may take back the wallet money it added, and pause tipping or your membership while it’s sorted out.
Takedowns and copyright
If a piece on MadeThese uses your work without permission, or shows you in a way you didn’t agree to, tell us. The fastest way is Report at the bottom of the piece’s page. We look at every report, and we take pieces down when they break these terms.
A formal copyright notice (DMCA)
If you own the copyright, you can also send us a formal notice. It needs all six of these:
- your name, mailing address, and phone or email;
- the work that’s yours (or a link to it);
- the link to the piece on MadeThese;
- this sentence: “I believe in good faith that this use isn’t allowed by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law”;
- this sentence: “The information in this notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, I am the owner or allowed to act for the owner”;
- your signature (typing your full name is fine).
Send it to our copyright agent: Riley Adamson, [email address coming soon], [mailing address coming soon].
Please don’t send a notice you know is false. You can be held responsible for the harm it causes.
If we took down your piece by mistake
You can send a counter-notice to the same address. It needs:
- your name, mailing address and phone;
- the piece that was removed, and where it was;
- this sentence: “Under penalty of perjury, I believe in good faith the piece was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified”;
- this sentence: “I agree to the jurisdiction of the federal court for my district (or, if I’m outside the United States, any district where MadeThese can be found), and I’ll accept legal papers from the person who sent the notice”;
- your signature.
We’ll pass it on to whoever sent the notice. If they don’t tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they’ve gone to court, we may put the piece back.
We close the accounts of people who keep uploading work that isn’t theirs.
Leaving, or being asked to leave
- You can stop using MadeThese any time. To delete your account and everything in it, see Delete your data.
- We may remove a piece, or pause or close an account, if it breaks these terms, puts someone at risk, or if the law requires it.
- When we can, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to download your art first — unless the art itself is the problem.
- If we ever shut MadeThese down, we’ll tell you ahead of time and give you a way to download everything.
- If your account closes, we’ll refund money left in your wallet.
What we can and can’t promise
We work hard to keep MadeThese running and your work safe. But we provide it “as is.” We can’t promise it will never go down, never have a mistake, or never lose something. Please keep your own copies of your art.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, like lost sales or lost profits. If something goes wrong, the most we’re responsible for is what you paid us in the last 12 months, or $100, whichever is more.
If someone makes a legal claim against us because of something you uploaded or did that breaks these terms, you agree to cover our costs.
Some places don’t allow these limits. Where that’s true, they apply as far as the law allows.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here and change the date at the top. For a big change, we’ll put a notice on the site (and email you, if we have your email) at least 14 days before it starts — unless we have to change something sooner for safety or the law.
If you keep using MadeThese after a change starts, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account, and we’ll refund money left in your wallet.
The law that applies
These terms follow the laws of the State of Utah, USA. If there’s a legal dispute, it goes to the state or federal courts in Salt Lake County, Utah — except small-claims cases, which you can bring where you live.
Before going to court, please write to us. Most problems can be fixed by talking.
If one part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us.
